Three Pellets online
Pellet fuel (also known as pellets) is a type of biofuel made from compressed organic material or biomass. Pellets can be made from one of five types of biomass: industrial waste and byproducts, food waste, agricultural residues, energy crops, and virgin biomass. There are three pellets.
The most common type of pellet fuel is wood pellets, which are typically made from compressed sawdust and associated industrial waste from timber milling, the production of wood products and furniture, and construction. Empty fruit bundles, palm kernel shells, coconut shells, and tree tops and branches discarded during felling are some other industrial waste sources. The so-called “black pellets” are made from biomass, refined to look like coal, and designed for use in existing coal-fired power plants.
Pellets are classified based on their heating value, moisture and ash content, and dimensions. They can be used to generate electricity, for commercial heating, or for residential heating and cooking. Pellets are extremely dense and can be manufactured with a low moisture content (less than 10%), allowing them to be burned with very high combustion efficiency.
